How to set up a team

Get your roster in Coach Card in about five minutes. You only have to do this once per season.

1

Create the team

From your dashboard, tap New team. Give it a name (e.g. "Tigers — 8U") and pick your league's position set (kid-pitch, coach-pitch, T-ball). You can change this later.

2

Add your roster

Open the Roster tab and tap Add player. Enter the player's name and jersey number. Repeat for the whole team — most coaches knock this out in one sitting from the league's signup sheet.

3

Set position preferences

Tap any player and mark each position as prefers, neutral, not preferred, or can't play. This is what makes the auto-lineup actually fair — players never end up somewhere they can't handle, and kids get more reps at the positions they love.

4

Invite your assistant coaches

Go to Members and invite assistant coaches by email. Everyone sees the same roster and the same live lineup during the game — no more texting screenshots back and forth.

5

(Optional) Write a lineup plan

If your league has specific rules ("nobody plays the same position twice", "rotate infield and outfield each inning"), open Lineup plan and write it in plain English. Coach Card's AI will follow it every time you generate a lineup. See the AI lineup planner guide.
